IDI is a network of Canadian distributors specializing in industrial supplies and power transmission, bearing products–our two product families.

Founded in 1981, IDI is a business group of industrial distributors that wish to retain their independence in a rapidly changing and dynamic marketplace. IDI’s mission is to advance the betterment of its members, customers and suppliers and to work in harmony towards the continuation of their success in a free enterprise system.

IDI currently consists of 86 member companies in 140 locations across Canada, employing 1,600 employees and commanding sales in excess of $400 million.

• SUPPLIERS: Our members represent over 1,300 worldwide suppliers of industrial supplies and power transmission, bearing products. All of the items are available to our customers.

• OWNER OPERATED: Our members are sleeves up, customer oriented, owner-operators who are deeply entrenched and have invested in their local communities.

• LARGE INVENTORIES: Over $55 million in inventories located close to our customer’s plants.

• LOCATIONS COAST TO COAST ACROSS CANADA: Enables us to quote and service multi-plant national contracts.

• QUALITY: Only companies with strong balance sheets can be members of IDI. Most
members have TQM (Total Quality Management) programs in place. Many are ISO 9003 registered.

• SYSTEMS: From EDI to JIT to Integrated Supply, we have product purchasing systems for companies with one plant or multi-plant operations. These systems are designed to minimize the cost of acquisition and possession of industrial MRO supplies.

• PRODUCTS: IDI offers a wide diversity of industrial supplies including abrasives and cutting tools; adhesives, tapes and chemicals; conveyor and material handling products; hand, precision and power tools; hose, hydraulics and pneumatic products; safety supplies, and threaded products as well as a full range of bearing and power transmission products including bearings, chain and sprockets, clutches and brakes, flat belt drives, couplings, gears, speed reducers, gear motors, electrical and mechanical variable speed drives, V-belt drives, electric motors and a full range of motion control products.
